School Sport Funding is money that is provided by the government to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education, sport and physical activity within schools. The school has been in receipt of additional government funding specified as 'Sport Premium' since its introduction in September 2013. For the academic year 2017-18, schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil. As a school we carefully consider how to spend our funding and the impact it will have on our children and include the use of Sports Premium Funding to support us with delivering our PE vision.
At Sharp Lane, we value PE as a vital part of children’s physical, emotional, and social development. We offer a safe, inclusive environment where pupils enjoy high-quality PE lessons and extra-curricular clubs, supported by Sports Premium funding.
Our PE vision is based on four key values:
Aspirational: Pupils experience a wide range of sports, take part in competitions, and are inspired by local sports champions.
Believe: We encourage children to challenge themselves and enjoy being active while building confidence and healthy habits.
Commit: Pupils develop resilience by practising skills, competing, and reflecting on their progress.
Discover: Children explore new activities, applying learned skills across different games and sports.
