Religious Education

Our Intent in Religious Education

At Sharp Lane Primary School, we believe that it is important for all our pupils to learn from and about religion, so that they can understand the world around them.

Our intent for our pupils is to be ASPIRATIONAL by learning and exploring the world around them and people’s beliefs to understand that as individual’s, we may have different views, opinions and beliefs but that we must always show respect to everyone.

We want our children to choose their own BELIEFS and to understand and appreciate different beliefs, cultural practices and the influence of principal religions and world views in the local, national and wider global community.

Our children COMMIT themselves to their learning by applying their knowledge and skills in understanding and accepting people whatever their belief may be.

We allow our children to explore and DISCOVER through acquiring and developing knowledge and understanding of a range of principal religions represented in Great Britain; to appreciate the way that religious beliefs shape life and behaviour, develop the ability to make reasoned and informed judgements about religious and moral issues and enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
