Geography

Our Intent in Geography

At Sharp Lane Primary School, we recognise the importance of GEOGRAPHY in every aspect of daily life.

Our intent is for our pupils to be ASPIRATIONAL by developing their skills to search for answers to questions about the natural and human aspects of the world in order to have a greater understanding of the world around us that we currently live in. Exploring roles of geographers will broaden our children's understanding and awareness of how the skills and knowledge taught, learnt and applied within this subject can be used beyond school and into their future careers.

We want our children to BELIEVE in themselves by encouraging them to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of the world they live in, as well as their place within it. We want our children to know the part they play in looking after our planet and the impact this can have.

Our children COMMIT themselves to their learning by applying their knowledge and skills to the activities and task set. As this becomes progressive across school, our children will persevere and be resilient which will allow them to showcase their learning as geographers.

We allow our children to explore and DISCOVER in geography by seeking to inspire their curiosity and fascination about the world and its people which will remain with them for the rest of their lives, equipping them well for further education and beyond.
