Computing

Our Intent in Computing

At Sharp Lane Primary School, we recognise the importance of COMPUTING and we aim to give our pupils the life-skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new technology in a socially responsible and safe way in order to flourish. We want our pupils to be able to operate in the 21st century workplace and we want them to know the career opportunities that will be open to them if they study computing.

Our intent is for pupils to have high ASPIRATIONS and be masters of technology. Not only do we want them to be digitally literate and competent end-users of technology, but through our computing lessons we want them to develop creativity, resilience, problem-solving and critical thinking skills which they can then apply to many other areas of learning.

We want our children to have a breadth of experience to develop their understanding of themselves as individuals within their community but also as members of a wider global community so that they BELIEVE in their own abilities to become responsible digital citizens within our society.

Our children COMMIT themselves to their learning by applying their knowledge and skills in computing to all other aspects of their life. They apply new knowledge and skills learnt to projects which they see through to completion.

We allow our children to explore and DISCOVER within computing so that they become autonomous, independent users of computing technologies, gaining confidence and enjoyment from their activities.
