As with many schools of our size, flexible timetables with staggered breaks and lunchtimes are used to ensure that all pupils are happy, safe and secure at Sharp Lane Primary School. Below are some of the most important details for pupils and parents.
The Early Years time follow a structures routine, daily. Most weeks, it will follow a pattern similar to the timetable shown above. This allows children to become accustomed to the routines and expectations at school and to build strong relationships with staff and their peers. Goal time sees the children access provision with structured activities that are created to challenge the pupils to apply their learning independently.
Key Stage 1 & Year 3
In Years 1, 2 & 3, break time will take place at 10:15am - 10:30am. During this time, pupils are encouraged to have a healthy snack and to take part in activities to boost their Social, Emotional and Mental Health.
Lunchtime for pupils across the school takes place between 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm. During the first 45 minutes of this time, pupils will eat their chosen lunch and then have time to play with their friends.
At 12:45 pm, teachers from Years 2 - 6 will return to the playground and play a supervised game with their classes. This is aimed at encouraging pupils to play sensibly and responsibly with each other, whilst also allowing pupils to become calm and ready for the afternoon's learning.
Year 4 and Upper Key Stage 2
In Years 4, 5 & 6, break time will take place from 10:30 am - 10:45 am. During this time, pupils are encouraged to have a healthy snack and to take part in activities to boost their Social, Emotional and Mental Health.

Staff are encouraged to timetable flexibily during the week to ensure that curriculum coverage is kept broad and balanced and wherever possible, cross curricular learning opportunities are used to maximise pupil engagement and encourage the use of transferrable skills.
