We were very excited to receive a letter from Tim Peake.

Robinwood 2019 - Forest Group!

WOW! We have been busy on Our Journey To BATTLE so far this term!
In our topic lessons, we have been historians and have used different sources of information to find out all about WW2. We started by looking at which period of time in history WW2 happened, who was involved and why it started. Further to this, we have spent time learning all about the Blitz and understanding why evacuation happened and debating the positives and negatives of this. We even had a soldier come in to visit us and talk about his job and share parts of his uniform!
In Maths we have been very busy consolidating our understanding of place value and the 4 operations. We have continued to develop our understanding and skills of our formal written methods using larger numbers now we are in Year 5. We have used all of this knowledge and skills and applied it to problem solving and reasoning challenges to deepen our learning further.
In English we have written some fantastic narratives with detailed setting and character descriptions, we have written some amazing non-chronological reports all about the Blitz and are currently writing a diary entry based on being evacuated during the war.
In addition to all of the above, Pratchett Class have been improving their swimming skills and Morpurgo Class have been learning and developing their musical talents with our specialist music teacher every Friday. All Year 5 classes will spend a term doing swimming and music throughout the year (Spring Term tbc).
When the air raid sounds, we must head to our Anderson shelters QUICK!
