Year 3

Queen's Jubilee Celebrations
We had lots of fun celebrating the Queen's jubilee. We started the day by discussing who the Queen is, her importance in the UK / other Commonwealth countries and looked at her duties.
We then looked at her family tree and a timeline of her life. We created lots of different crafts and finished off the day with a phase bingo session. We all had lots and lots of fun!

Reading Challenge
We have set the children a challenge to take a photo of themselves reading at home. This can be reading to a pet or family member, in front of the Christmas tree or in the strangest place/pose possible! Once you have taken the photo, please email it to the school email with their teacher's name and class as the subject.

We look forward to seeing your excellent ideas!

Wow, we've had a busy few weeks!
We received a very important letter today!

In Year 3, we have been learning about Type 1 Diabetes, as Ryly Dabill-Haigh from Bond Class, has this incurable condition in which the body makes a mistake and attacks it’s own immune system. It’s still unknown to this day, why this happens.
Through Ryly we’ve discovered that people with Type 1 Diabetes can do just the same as everyone else, but may need to plan in advance to ensure the body is getting the right amount of insulin.
Diabetes UK are celebrating the 100 years since the discovery of insulin, so to do our bit we are going to complete a sponsored run on the 2nd March. The whole year 3 team (staff included) are all taking part to run 100 miles to celebrate this achievement. We have sent sponsorship forms out to all the children involved.
Together we can all play our part in helping raise money to find a cure.
We did it!
The weather was miserable but the children all did absolutely amazing! We are very proud of how well everyone did. The sponsorship money has started to roll in and so far we have £270. You have until the 8th March to submit the sponsorship form and money. We took lots of photos that we are slowly going through and will upload them as soon as we can.
Well done once again everyone!
