I hope you have had a lovely weekend! Here is your first Maths session this week all about the number 7.
Let's warm up first. Can you count to 7? Can you count backwards? Can you say it in a funny voice? Can you do it whilst on one leg?
watch: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08pgqt4/numberblocks-series-2-seven Sorry, I didn't mention that you can also watch Numberblocks on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWf5imSBruY
Answer these questions:
What do you notice about the number 7? What makes Number block different to the other Numberblocks? Why is number 7 lucky? How many things did Number 7 count? What do you know about number 7 already?
Number 7 is going to be important this week as will be also be thinking about the 7 days of the week!
Look at the picture of the Numberblocks picnic. What did you notice? Have you ever been on a picnic? What sort of food do you take? How do you make sure you have enough food for everyone? What do you notice about the picnic food in this picture (the Numberblocks have the amount of food items to match their own number)? Is this fair?
Can you make your own picnic plate for number 7? You can show this anyway you want to with real food or draw food on a plate. Be as creative as you like! Can you share a picture of it on tapestry?
Here is session 2 about the number 7.
Warm up: Watch the video and warm up with me first. Can you show me numbers with your fingers? Can we count to 7 and backwards? Then can we sing the colours of the rainbow? I found another video which sings the colours in order. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mruaPDxoEw
Video: Let's re-watch the videos from yesterday to remember what we know about the number 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWf5imSBruY
Activity: Can you play 7 and not 7? You could use plates like me or draw two circles and add items. You could even draw a 7 and not 7 poster. Be as creative as you like 😊
I can’t wait to see what you’ve done at home!
Days of the week
Here is session 3.
Video: Numberblocks https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08r3p2x/numberblocks-series-2-fluffies
Questions: What happens in the episode? Are you ticklish? Who is not ticklish? How do the Numberblocks turn into 7? How many ways do the Numberblocks make 7? Who saved the day? How many fluffies did number 4 have? How about number 6?
Language we want to encourage in the session is, “There is one fluffy for each block.”
“Two has 2 fluffies because he is made from 2 blocks.”
“Three has 3 fluffies because she is made from 3 blocks.”
Activity: So we are going to use our knowledge of the number 7 to help us. We need to work out how many fluffies are needed in the basket to make the number 7 altogether.
Washing line 1
Washing line 2
Here is your last session for about the number 7.
Video: There are a few videos to watch today. The first one is me, the next one is number formation for the number 7 and the last two are examples to help you with your activity today which is to help number 7 with his washing.
Activity: Can you write seven 7s? Then can you complete the washing line for Numberblock 7?
Please post your answers on tapestry 😊
Well done for all your hard work this week!
