Sport Premium Impact Report

 Sport Premium Spend 2021/22

The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities we offer our children.

School Sport Funding is money that is provided by the government to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of Physical Education, sport and physical activity within schools.  The school has been in receipt of additional government funding specified as 'Sport Premium' since its introduction in September 2013.  For the academic year 2017-18, schools with 17 or more eligible pupils receive £16,000 and an additional payment of £10 per pupil.  As a school we carefully consider how to spend our funding and the impact it will have on our children and include the use of Sports Premium Funding to support us with delivering our PE vision.

At Sharp Lane Primary School, we recognise the importance of PE in every aspect of daily life. We provide a safe and supportive environment for children to flourish in a range of different physical activities which is essential in supporting their physical, emotional, spiritual, social and moral development.

Our intent is for our pupils to be ASPIRATIONAL by having the opportunity to take part in a range of high quality PE lessons throughout school and through extra-curricular clubs which run after school.  Planned competitions with other schools allows children to represent Sharp Lane. Our House Teams are represented by local sports champions and we have had assemblies and zoom interviews with some of these stars who were highly aspirational!

We want our children to BELIEVE in themselves through challenging themselves to achieve a higher level of athletic ability. We encourage all children to develop their understanding of the way in which they can use their body, equipment and apparatus safely yet imaginatively to achieve their personal goals. All children have the opportunity to enjoy being physically active, maintain a healthy lifestyle and using the medium of sport to increase their self-esteem.

Our children COMMIT themselves to their learning by applying their knowledge and skills when competing against others in games and when reflecting on their learning and identifying their next steps. Our children understand that developing skills within sport takes time and practice.

We allow our children to explore and DISCOVER through having the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports and activities. Once a skill is taught and learnt, children apply this in a range of activities and games.

Healthy & Active Lifestyles

At Sharp Lane Primary School, we are proud of the extra-curricular offer that is in place for children. Our staff strive to offer a broad and varied club offer and these are well attended by children throughout Key Stage 1 & 2. Each term we will communicate with parents about upcoming clubs to sign up for and we do our best to accommodate as many children as possible. Where it is not possible to accommodate pupils, they are added to waiting lists and have priority for sign up in the next term. In Summer term, as we prepare Reception pupils for whole school life, we begin to offer lunchtime clubs to these pupils.
