Admissions

Starting School

By law, children must start school from the beginning of the school term after their fifth birthday.  In Leeds children normally start school at the beginning of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday (beginning of September term).   Your child must be in full-time education the term following their fifth birthday.

Entry into Reception

Reception admissions for September are dealt with by the Admissions Team at Leeds City Council.  All applications are made directly to admissions using Leeds City Council's on-line application process at https://www.leeds.gov.uk/schools-and-education/school-admissions
Parents will receive communication from the admissions team approximately October time to inform them the application process is open, and where and how to apply.  Please state five preferred choices of schools on your application.  Sharp Lane Primary School does not have any involvement in this process or decisions made when allocating places.

In Year Admissions

All admissions outside the normal round (annual cycle) are again processed by application, directly to Leeds Admissions.  See link above.  Sharp Lane Primary School will be informed of your interest for a school place.  The School Office Team will contact you about your application with a decision based on available space within the cohort.
