Maths

In maths, we have been learning about how to divide fractions,
which most of us are good at. There is this thing called KFC the
K- stands for keep, then the F- stands for flip and finally C-
stands for change. At the end all of us were confident and that’s
what we like to see.

The Haka

This week, we had our halloween disco. Everyone was dressed up and having fun. There was music and drinks and snacks. Everyone had such a fun time dancing around to songs like: Sweet Caroline and Barbie Girl.

This week, Year 6 have been doing practice SATS. We did reading, 4 maths ones and 2 English ones. We had 30-60 minutes for each one and we are glad to know that most of us would’ve passed.

In maths, we have been learning about degrees and how it is used for example in york it is -8 degrees it increases by 6 which would be -2 degrees that is what we have been doing in maths for 3 weeks.

By Seth, Annalise, Elsie

This week, we started to read our new book, The Tempest. So far we have we have read 23 pages so far we have loved the book. We hope to enjoy the rest of the book just as much.

In English, we have been planning and writing a newspaper report (based on Macbeth). So far, we have written the byline; paragraph 1, paragraph 2 and started the 3rd paragraph. The report is about the king seeing a supernatural figure -also known as a ghost- at the royal banquet to celebrate his coronation. We have nearly finished writing it and it is safe to say that everybody enjoyed it. Some quotes are:

“It felt like I was writing for a real newspaper!” B.A.

“I have been having so much fun writing this report! I absolutely loved it!” E.D.

By Seth Atkinson and Elsie Dunsmuir

In maths, we have been learning about BODMAS and long division. We listened to a song, which taught us how to do long division, and we learnt that in BODMAS we have to do the equation in brackets, before anything else. These were hard topics to learn, but we did it without fail.

In science, we have started to learn about inheritance and evolution We have been learning about Charles Darwin, the person who created the theory of evolution. We learnt about his voyage on the HMS beagle (Her Majesty’s ship).
