Family Support

Family means different things to different people. We know that different communities and cultures consider family in a different way and this is not static. The understanding and practice of family changes, develops and is often affected by external circumstances and environments. Therefore it is important to explore with individuals what family means to them, and the individuals who make up their family (including blood relatives, extended family or community members).

The Leeds Approach to Think Family, Work Family (2019)

Miss Thompson is the Family Support Worker at Sharp Lane Primary and is available to offer support, advice and information on:

  • Bereavement
  • Mental health support
  • Addiction
  • Housing
  • Financial difficulties
  • Routines and behaviour
  • Food banks

Events in School

Our Henry course has been running in school since 17th January 2022. The group of parents that have joined have discussed healthy food options, behavioural strategies and routines at home. It has been great to get together following a couple of years of doing these things virtually and the parents are thoroughly enjoying it.

Miss Thompson and Owens will be completing the Henry course in March 2022 and will be facilitating this course for parents in school so watch this space!

Early Help

Early Help is offered at the earliest possible stage of a problem or difficulty occuring. The aim is to prevent concerns worsening and avoiding the need for statutory intervention.

An Early Help Plan may be opened for your family to bring the agencies involved together to create a plan that works and moves forward, your family and child’s voice are always at the centre of an Early Help Plan. Miss Thompson is the Lead Professional for the Early Help Plans in school.
