Aspiration, Belief, Commitment & Discovery

British Values and SMSC

Our Intent in SMSC

At Sharp Lane Primary School, we recognise the importance of SMSC in every aspect of daily life.

Our intent is for our pupils to have high ASPIRATIONS by equipping them with the necessary skills to be successful, moral adults that live healthy lifestyles and take on opportunities beyond their horizons.

We want our children to BELIEVE in themselves through developing their self-confidence, knowing that everyone is unique and special in their own way and to recognise their potential in all that they do.

Our children COMMIT themselves to their learning by applying their knowledge and understanding of the different areas of SMSC in a variety of ways, such as, class performances, group and partner work. Children will gain social skills to enable them to communicate in different environments and with different cultures.

We allow our children to explore and DISCOVER within each area of SMSC through discussions, debates and their own research. With the use of debates and voting, children will apply their skills and knowledge of democracy and equality.
