BARRIE (Yr 1)
Dinner Menus
We are currently reviewing the school dinner systems. Please be aware that menus will now be sent home on Wednesdays and must be returned to school by Friday morning at the latest.
Many thanks for your continued support.
English
This week in English we have been looking at the features of a traditional tale. The children have been writing all about Little Red Riding Hood. We have written our own character and setting descriptions with a focus on adjectives. The children have enjoyed learning through drama to become more familiar with the text.
Maths
In Maths we have been looking at place value. The children are now able to identify how many tens and ones are in 2-digit numbers. We have been exploring this through partitioning using part part whole models and using equipment around the classroom to support (numicon, base 10, cubes). The children have enjoyed representing numbers in lots of different ways! We have used stories to contextualise our learning this week. We made our own story up as a class about a trip to the beach and finding different teen numbers.
Topic
In topic we have been recapping our learning on materials. We will continue to investigate next week but looking at how waterproof materials are!
