We are bright, bubbly, energetic learners. We like to use our senses to explore the world around us and enjoy learning through our indoor and outdoor environments. We all work together as a class, try to find different ways to solve any problems and keep going when challenges occur. In RS we think of new and exciting ideas and enjoy sharing our achievements with each other!
Summer 1 Week 1
We have really enjoyed being back at school. We have shared what we have been doing over the holidays and looking at our homework.
In Phonics we have been practising reading words and sentences that contain four phonemes. It is very tricky but we keep going! We also wrote birthday cards for the Queen. We have sent them to Buckingham Palace and hope to hear back soon!
In Maths we have been looking at money. We have recognised coins and are now starting to add the coins together.
Challenge: Can you choose 2 coins and add them together.
Please remember we start PE on Wednesday so please bring your labelled PE kit and a water bottle! Thank you.
Please remember our Easter Bonnet Parade on Wednesday 23rd. Our class will be showing our amazing creations at 2.30pm in the Reception Playground. Please can you label your child's bonnet that you have created at home and bring it in either Tuesday 22nd or Wednesday 23rd.
This week we have been celebrating Autism Awareness week. We spoke a little bit about what Autism was and how we are all amazing. Abi came from Year 6 to speak to us about what Autism means to her and some of the different things that she finds challenging. We all really enjoyed the Seaseme Street Amazing Song. We then spoke about why we were amazing!

Spring 2 Week 1
This week we have really enjoyed being back at school. We have loved dressing up in our new role play fancy dress shop. There are lots of different costumes and we have even started putting some shows on for each other. We have also looked at the inside of a theatre and decided some questions that we would like to know.
In phonics this week we have been recapping all the sounds we have learnt so far. Please remember to go through your sound books to keep practising before we learn some brand new ones!
In Maths we have been ordering numbers. We have been ordering non consecutive numbers too! This has been a little bit tricky but we have helped each other and kept going.
Challenge: Can you order these numbers? 17, 9, 4. Can you think off a smaller and a larger number than the first and the last?
Spring 1 Week 3
This week in Phonics we have learnt 4 new sounds: ee, or, ai and oa. These new sounds are in our sound books so be sure to have a look and practise saying and writing them.
In Maths we have been practising our adding. We have used lots of different ways to add two groups together. We have used real objects, number tracks, bead strings and counted on by outing the big number in our heads and adding the rest on our fingers.
Challenge: Can you find write number sentences and work them out using your favourite method. Remember to bring them in to show us so we can put them into profiles!
We have started learning our talk for writing story this week. We have learnt the actions to help us remember the story and have been practising it all. There is a video below of our favourite part!
Healthy School WeekFor Healthy School Week our class has decided our goal is to do more exercise. We will be doing lots of different exercises at school such as Zumba, Yoga, Running, Areobics and Cycling. If you do any exercise at home please feel free to take photographs, draw pictures or write about what you have been doing. We will put lots of photographs and videos of the exercises that we do on our class page.
Spring 1 Week 1
This week we have really enjoyed being back at school. We have been very busy especially in Phonics. We have learnt the new sounds z, y, zz and qu. We have practised reading words with these new sounds in and even had a go at writing sentences too!
Challenge: Can you write a sentence with the following words in:
quick, buzz, jazz, quiz, fizz
In Maths we have been learning about length. We have compared different objects and used the words longer, shorter, the same as, longest, shortest and tallest to describe them.
Challenge: Can you find 3 objects in your house and describe them? Which is the longest? Which is the shortest? Are any objects the same length?
Next Week we are taking part in Healthy Schools Week. We have got lots of fun activities to take part in including ‘Active Day’ on Friday. Please can children come in sports clothes and bring a named pair of wellies.
Autumn 2 Week 6
This week we have had lots of fun making Christmas cards, calendars and tree decorations. We have written letters to Santa and been visited by Bernard the Elf. He wrote us a letter explaining that Santa’s workshop had been extremely busy so he was using our workshop to help make toys and wrap gifts ready for Christmas.
In phonics we have learnt new sounds which are now in all our sound books ready to practise over the Christmas holidays. We have learnt x, w and v. We have also learnt lots of new tricky words including me, we, go and no.
Challenge: Can you write a sentence using one or more of our tricky words?
In Maths this week we have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We have talk about their properties and look around our classroom to find similar shapes. We talked about how 2D shapes were thin and flat and how discussed how many sides and corners each shape had. We also talked about how 3D were chunky and fat and how they had different shaped faces.
Challenge: Can you look around your house and find any 2D or 3D shapes? Can you draw them or write a list of them?
Autumn 2 Week 2
This week in Maths we have been looking at patterns. We have been talking about whether they are repeated patterns or not. We then had a go at creating our own repeated pattern using 2 or three objects. We used classroom objects such as Numicon, bottle tops, pens, pegs and counting cubes. We also had a go at making a repeating pattern using musical instrument , actions and shapes.
Challenge: Can you create a repeating pattern using objects you can find at home? Can you draw it?
In Phonics we have been continuing to learn new sounds. This week we have learnt the sound ‘ck’ and ‘e’. We are all doing such brilliant reading and writing and we are very proud to share this achievement with the whole class.
Challenge: Can you revisit and identify all the sounds in your new sound book and have a go at writing them too?
We also celebrated Diwali this week. We watched the story of Rama and Sita and watched a video of a girl named Jessica who was getting ready and celebrating Diwali. We looked at diva lamps and spoke about what we thought they were made out off. We also tried Barfi, a traditional Diwali sweet. Some of us didn’t like it but all tried it! Autumn 2 Week 1
This week we have really enjoyed being back at school. We heard all about everyone half term and the exciting things they had been doing.
In Maths this week we have been investigating 1 more and 1 less. We have used number tracks, bead strings and fingers to explore this. We found that by adding 1 more the numbers got bigger and by finding 1 less the numbers got smaller.
Challenge: Can you find any numbers around your house and see if you can find out 1 more or 1 less?
In Phonics we have been learning the new sounds, g, o, c and k. We have been practising recognising all the sounds we have learnt so far as well as blending them to read them and segmenting them in order to write them.
Challenge: Can you read these words? sat, mat, pop, dog, sit, ink, man, pin.
We have really enjoyed talking about Bonfire Night. We spoke about the story behind Bonfire Night and how to stay safe during it. We created a beautiful display with a big bonfire and lots of firework pictures using different materials and resources. We then started to think about why we can see fireworks better during the night time. We looked at the differences between light and dark and made a list of different objects that made it light or dark. All is available to read and see in our Project Book!
Autumn 1 Week 6
This week RS have been very busy. In Phonics we have begun to learn new sounds. We have learnt s,a,t and p. We have practised writing them as well as reading them. When we learnt them we do an action too!
Challenge: Can you remember the sounds and their actions? Can you write them?
In Maths we have been recognising numbers to 10 and matching them to the correct numcion. We have worked hard to read lots of different examples of the same number and really enjoy our new number study area. We are currently looking at the number 4. In our number study area we can see lots of number 4s along with lots of different ways 4 can be made up.
Challenge: Can you draw 4 objects for our number study area? Can you write the number 4?
This week we another note from Captain Jake asking us to go on an adventure! We had to make a pirate passport and then build a big ship outside so we could sail out to sea. It was so much fun! We didn't find George but he did return the treasure chest back to us.
Next week we are taking part in a competition called The Big Draw. We will be looking at drawing faces and figure using lots of different materials and resources.
Autumn 1 Week 5
This week we have been very busy! We created a story about Captain Jake and a little boy called George. We thought George had shared the treasure with Captain Jake but Captain Jake sent us a letter which told us he had not! George had actually stolen the treasure and Captains Jake’s ship. We decided to help by looking for the treasure chest. We looked very carefully all around the garden. We asked Louis if she had seen anyone but she hadn’t. Nevan spotted footprints so we knew George must have been there. After searching and searching Danielius and Amy were the ones to spot the treasure chest. We wrote a letter back to Captain Jake explaining how we had found the treasure and asked if he was going to share it. He sent a reply saying he was very happy that we had helped him and not only was he sharing the sweets in the chest he was giving us some jewels and gold nuggets!
