Our Vision for Early Years
“Working together to capture and nurture the imagination of young minds”
We believe that the Characteristics of Effective Learning should be kept at the forefront of teaching and learning. We need to support our children to build the strongest possible foundations in Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Communication and Physical Development to ensure they achieve their potential and beyond!
Welcome to our Early Years page. Our school offers fantastic Early Years provision! We offer 90 places in our 3 Reception Classes and we have a 39 place pre-school Nursery. All our staff are well-qualified, and many have worked at Sharp Lane for a number of years, helping to add consistency to the provision.
At Sharp Lane we are great believers in the power of the natural world and its vast potential as a learning resource. We believe that visiting the garden/local woodland provides regular opportunities for children to achieve, develop confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences.
Our Early Years Team aim to:
- Treat each child in our care as individual, taking into account his/her needs.
- Enable each child to develop in personality, confidence and ability, and to work towards achieving his/her own potential.
- Provide an environment which encourages children to enjoy the company of others, develop self-discipline, independence and achieve personal satisfaction.
- Work closely with parents at all times, respecting and valuing their opinions as prime carer of the child.
