Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parent Meeting this week. We hope you found it informative. Please see below for the slides we used, for those of you who requested it.
Quite a few parents asked for support with Maths; we hope to plan in another meeting for this later in the school year. In the mean time, please come and speak to us if you have any specific questions.
Leeds Library Trip
What an amazing day we have had today at Leeds Library finding out all about Nick Sharratt! We got to practice our skills as an illustrator and enjoy some of the books he has been part of creating, as well as dressing up as some of his characters... we had a wonderful time and loved the chance to read together and find out about about him.
Well, Peter Rabbit can't be expected to escape from Mr McGreggor without any help! In Dahl Class we put into practice our learning on materials to see if we could choose suitable materials to make a sling shot. Children were given access to a range of classroom and garden equipment and worked in pairs to design (over the past week or two) and make (today) slingshots.
We had so much fun testing them and we even came away with ideas for how to refine our designs after testing them firing 'radishes' (ping pong balls). What do you think?
Dahl Class Scientists!
We have been having a great time this week being Scientists and exploring the properties of materials.
We tested the properties of different materials by finding out if they could be bent, squashed, stretched or twisted.
13th September would have been Roald Dahl's birthday. To celebrate, we had a whole day of Dahl themed activities, including designing our own bug buddies that could go on James' Giant Peach. Have a look at us in our costumes and yellow clothes!
Welcome back to Dahl class! We hope that you have had a lovely Summer break, the children have told us all about their fantastic adventures!
Please check this page every week, it will be updated with key information and children's work regularly so that you know all about what you child has been doing in class. Mrs Gordon, Mrs Audsley and Mr Smith are really looking forward to working with you all throughout the year and we have lots of exciting activities planned.
We have uploaded a weekly timetable and this half terms newsletter for you so that you know everything that we plan on doing until October half term. You will also receive a copy of this today so please read it carefully as it has information about PE, our topic, parent workshops and also our first class visit in Year 2.
A Typical Week in Dahl Class
Please be aware that Outdoor PE will take place on a Monday and that Indoor PE will take place on Wednesday. We recommend that children bring PE kit on Monday and take it home again on Friday, this way we can fit in extra PE if weather is an issue.
