Welcome back to school Year 4! We have had a great first week back at school. Year 4 have had a very exciting week reading through the script for our ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat’ performance and taking part in the auditions for roles. Well done everyone who auditioned – we have many talented actors and actresses in our year group J Roles have now been allocated and so we will hand out scripts for children to learn their lines. We have been starting to learn some of the songs too.
Year 4 have had a super final week before half term. They did some great work on calculating and measuring the area of shapes and wrote some super newspaper reports with the 'natural disaster' theme.
Make Your Heart Bounce day was a huge success so thank you to everyone who contributed!
Year 4 had a great time taking part in the Bounce Disco with Miss Burton and Miss Thompson and getting our hearts racing. We also loved the bouncy castle!
Have a great half term everyone and we look forward to seeing you in a week's time!
Welcome to Class Columbus.
We have chosen to name our class after Christopher Columbus, the famous explorer.
We all want to be like explorers in our class because explorers have 5 things in common.
1. They are determined to succeed.
2. They are ready to try to overcome difficult and unknown challenges.
3. They are great at persevering.
4. They focus on a goal they want to achieve.
5. They are good at working as a team.

Our class has decided to celebrate Columbus Day on Thursday 12th October. We will be conducting more research on the prestigious explorer we decided to name our class after. In celebration, the children can come to school on Thursday dressed up as Columbus, a sailor or an explorer. We will be taking part in a quiz, writing instructions on how to be a fantastic explorer we will also be taking part in atlas work and of course singing songs about Columbus. As part of our enterprise project, we will be making Columbus themed buns and drinks, which will be on sale outside our classroom on Friday after school at 2pm.
Our first topic is Ancient Egypt.
Have a look at the links below and start looking in to the exciting topic.
Handwriting is very important. Why not try and gain a pen license this year?
Reading Records will be checked weekly and books will be changed on a Tuesday. Children can read any book from school or home and this can be logged in their record. Rewards can be achieved if your child reads regularly at home!
Spellings will be handed out as needed. We will teach spelling three times a week and have spelling tests on spellings they have been taught in class.
Homework will be sent home every Thursday and handed in every Tuesday. This may be English, Topic or Maths depending on the needs of the children each week.
