Summer Term 2015
This week Year 6 have found out lots of information about St George highlighting the truth and myths about this person. In our Computing lessons we have researched St George's Day and thought carefully about the reliability of websites and the information contained in them. During Literacy lessons we have studied a poem about a dragon and used figurative language to describe it.
Welcome back to your child's final term at Sharp Lane Primary School! This half term we will be very busy with revision for our National Curriculum Tests and preparing for our End of Year production. We will also be studying Food and Farming and hope to go on several trips linked to this during the second half of this term.
Spring Term 2015
As part of our PSHCE, we had a visitor, Simon Benn, who talked to us about positive thinking and having a positive mental attitude. We are now spectacular strawberries, awesome apples and resilient raspberries!
Year 6 have enjoyed settling into their new building this week and they love it. Any parents wishing to visit, please look out for details about the upcoming parents meetings all about maths. Dates and times to be confirmed soon.
Year 6 have had a very busy start to the new term. We have: made games in our computing lessons, found out about the Maya Civilisation during history lessons, researched how animals have adapted over time in science, created Mayan artwork, found out about Sikhism in RE and we have started a new project called Go Givers. Phew!

Some of the Year 6 children will be bringing Christmas to the community by carol singing at Cranmore and Raylands Community Centre on Thursday the 11th December. We have spent our singing assemblies perfecting our carols and songs. This afternoon is set to be very festive! This event will take place in the afternoon and children will return to school for the usual pick up time of 3:10. The children can wear their Christmas jumpers and hats over their school uniforms.
Four Year 6 children were buzzing on their way to the Spelling Bee on Thursday afternoon. They stung the competition with superior spellings and wowed the judges with their lightning speed. Charlie, Mollie, Jessica and Tyler were a credit to the school, winning the prestigious trophy for the second year running. I'm sure the rest of Year 6 will bee swarming to congratulate them.
A creature has escaped in Year 6! The children are investigating what has escaped and where it could be in our Literacy and Topic lessons. We look forward to updating you further soon.
