Summer Term 2015
This week we have been redrafting our own stories to create suspense and tension. There are some very creative and mysterious stories. Next week the children will be writing their stories up neatly and will bring them home to share with you. We have also been having lots of fun auditioning for Sharp Lane's got Talent and are looking forward to the final and sports day next Thursday.
This week in Year 4 we have been writing our own mystery and suspense stories. We have also been learning about democracy following the assembly on the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta. We have been looking at British values through leadership and elections.
This week Year 4 have started researching Filey for our Rio De Janiero vs. Filey topic. Some of the children have also had a great time attending a cricket tournament and a rugby activities morning. We are really looking forward to book week next week.
In Year 4, for take one picture, we looked at the painting ‘Breakers Yard’ by Paul Anthony Waplington. After discussing different ways we could explore the painting further, we decided to do some Drama and a song. Also this week we have had great fun trying different cheeses with Asda.
Year 4 have has an exciting week writing complaint letters, playing rounders in the sun shine and making Roman pottery faces. 4C were very sad to say goodbye to Miss Parry (student teacher).
Year 4 all deserve to enjoy a relaxing week off and then be prepared for the last term of being a student in year 4.
We have had great fun this week in Year 4 learning about personification, similes and metaphors and writing our own poems about the summer. 4M had a brilliant time making cous cous salad with Kay. This afternoon we have learnt all about VE day and have sung a song. All of the children look brilliant in their red, white and blue.
Today we have enjoyed learning the National Anthem for St George’s Day. We have also found out lots of interesting facts about St George. Did you know he was a Roman solider and had never been to England? As our new history topic is about the Romans we will be learning all about what life was like as a Roman solider and about all their amazing inventions.
Spring Term 2015
In year 4 we are counting down the days until our first performance of Joseph. We are very excited but a little nervous; our first dress rehearsal will be performed on Monday in front of the whole school. The tickets are selling out quickly, if you still need to purchase tickets for the performance please come to the year 4 entrance where they will be on sale both before and after school.
Last week we started our coaching sessions with Darryl from the Hunslet Hawks in which we are learning all about agility, balance and coordination through fun games and rugby. Our performance of Joseph and his technicoloured dream coat is getting ever closer so please remember to buy tickets (letters have gone out) and support your child with learning songs and lines.
Year 4 have had an exciting week preparing for World Book Day. On Wednesday we shared books with reception children, read to them and completed book reviews together. On Thursday we dressed up as our favourite characters from our favourite books, which was a lot of fun. Our performance of Joseph is fast approaching; all children have been given a copy of the lyrics to practice at home. Why not join in with your children the songs are very catchy.
In Year 4 we had a brilliant time at Leeds Museum this week. We spent time learning about mummification, making our own amulets, creating our own Egyptian gods and impressing the museum staff with our knowledge of Ancient Egypt. Whilst at the museum we discovered the life on Earth floor, where we learnt all about animals and even made some of our own which helped us when designing our Ancient Egyptian gods.
Our cookies before baking
This week in Year 4 we have been getting very excited about half term and doing lots of fun activities. We have made healthy oatmeal cookies and a snack box to put them in. A great time was had by all at the Valentines disco and there was lots of dancing. Also, we have had brilliant auditions for our Joseph play and the children will be told after half term which part they will be playing. We hope everyone has a lovely holiday.
This week in Year 4 we have started to learn another Joseph song so please make sure you are practicing them at home. You can find them lower down the class page. On Monday, we were celebrated in assembly as Year 4 had the best attendance last week which is brilliant. We are also looking forward to our trip to Leeds museum after half term to learn even more about the ancient Egyptians.
This week in Year 4 we have been getting very excited about the snow. Please remember to send your child in wellies or snow boots so they can enjoy the snow at break time. The children have been writing their own historical stories his week with lots of exciting characters such as Tutankhamun, James Bond and Indiana Jones, to name a few.

This term our topic is ancient Egypt, where we be looking at pyramids, pharaohs, mummies and lots more. We are also looking forward to our class assemblies.
Autumn Term 2014
We have had lots of fun this week in Year 4. We had a lovely afternoon carol singing at Nesfield Lodge followed by hot chocolate with marshmallows and ate delicious chocolates we were gifted from the Lodge. We are all excited about next week as the Christmas fun continues making cards, calendars, crackers and watching Christmas films.

This week Year 4 have been getting into the festive spirit by practising the Christmas songs and carols in preparation for our upcoming carol service at Nesfield Lodge on the 9th of December. In line with the cold weather we have also been conducting experiments with ice hands.

This week in Year 4 we have been looking at anti-bullying and thinking about how people feel and what you can do to prevent bullying. We have also been making Christmas decorations to send to other countries around the world.
In Year 4 this week we have been learning about Remembrance Day and why we have 2 minutes silence on 11th of November. We have also started learning a song to help us remember about solids, liquids and gases.
