In our class, our teacher is Miss Graham and our teaching assistant is Mr Cassar. We are a hard-working, polite and friendly class who enjoy learning. We always try our very best and love to share our achievements.
This week in Year 3 we have written some fantastic suspense stories and included all of the fantastic language features we have been learning about. Here are some of our super sentences:

This half - term, Mr Cassar and I are very impressed with the children's efforts at swimming. Most of the children are now very close to achieving a certificate. A huge congratulations to Frankie, Amy, Niamh, and Marta for achieving their 400m certificate, Isobella for achieving her 100m certificate and Jessica for achieving her 50m certificate.
This week in Year 3 we have had an exciting time taking part in British Science Week.We have spent some time outside collecting brightly coloured, natural objects from our environment to make a rainbow and researching the theories on how dinosaurs became extinct. We found this very interesting and have decided that we think it was due to climate change. We have also been working hard writing some fantastic, formal complaint letters and continued our work on shape and angles in Maths.

On Tuesday 9th February, Year 3 had a fantastic day celebrating the Rio Carnival. We are thoroughly enjoying our topic of South America and have particularly enjoyed learning about Brazil. We spent the day learning all about the carnival, making glittering head bands and dancing to Samba music.

This week in 3G we have been working really hard on addition. We have learnt to add using the expanded column method. We have also been answering word problems based on addition and even created some of our own! Don't forget to go on Mathletics to practise your new skills!
In English, we have been writing our balanced argument on the question 'Should children wear a school uniform?' Miss Graham is extremely proud of us because we have been using words such as moreover, furthermore and additionally.
We have also been trying really hard to read at home as often as possible. Congratulations to Jessica and Arba who have read 100 times at home and will be going to buy their own magazine. Congratulations to Frankie-Jack for reading 50 times at home and will receive his book this week.
In 3G, we set up our own courtroom to debate whether or not children should be allowed to keep a pet.
Welcome back! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas holiday and I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year! We have got lots of exciting things coming up this half-term so keep checking this page to keep up to date. In English, we will be looking at argument texts and we will also be looking at a variety of argument texts in Guided Reading. In Maths we will be looking at place value of numbers and then move on to telling the time.
This week in Year 3 has been very very busy! Christmas has arrived in our classroom and we are all on the festive count down to Christmas! We have been working hard writing our own adventure stories, producing leaflets about caring for pets, exploring 3-D shapes and learning some new Christmas carols. We rounded off our week with a trip to Leeds Discovery Centre where we learnt lots and lots of information about Prehistoric Britain and even got to look around the storage room which contains over a million artefacts!

We have been working hard to learn our text, A Space Adventure off by heart using actions to help.
We are also celebrating National Anti-Bullying Week and have discussed different scenarios and the best way to deal with them.
It would be really helpful if the children could learn their 3,4 and 8 times tables over the coming weeks. We will be having a quiz on a Friday morning in 3G's Maths set. The times table charts are located in the front of the Reading Record Log, however, the children will be making their own resources to help this week!
We have also been working hard to add and subtract using the expanded column method. We used base 10 to help us with exchanging.

This week in English, we have been writing our final diary entry in role as the Prince from Cinderella. We watched a very inspiring video called "Austin's Butterfly" to help us understand that it is okay to draft our work and improve it lots of times before we get to our final result! Miss Graham and Mrs Kaye are super proud of all of 3G's work this week, but would like to give a special mention to Darcy who has drafted and improved her work 6 times! Well done Darcy
This week, we have been reading 'Revolting Rhymes' by Roald Dahl and were very surprised to find Little Red Riding Hood making an appearance in the rhyme of The Three Little Pigs. We have also began our Spanish lessons and can successfully count to 10!
