We all had a wonderful time at Ponderosa yesterday. We enjoyed stroking the llama's, watching the meerkats and we all wanted to help the poorly raindeers. It was very hot, so an ice lolly was well needed at the end of the day. Which would be your favourite animal?

We have been checking on our beans this week and they have finally started to grow, so we are very excited to see what they grow in to. We have designed and made out own stick puppets which we used to help us change the story of 'Jim and the beanstalk'. One afternoon whilst we were out we received a huge letter from the Giant! He wanted us to use our new gardening skills to design him a garden.

This week we have enjoyed using weighing scales and investigating capacity (we got a little bit wet!). Today we turned our backs to the solar eclipse, then we got our plates and put them in the sunlight. It felt as cold as an ice cube and it got dim outside.

In year 1 we have been enthusiastically recounting our trip to Sandal castle. In maths we have been thinking about measures, at home you can help your child by using the words longer and shorter and doing some practical measuring.

Sandal Castle

We had great fun at Sandal Castle! It was very windy climbing up to the top and looking out over Wakefield and the ruins of the castle. Mr Cassar told us all about the castle dungeons as we looked around, he even tried to lock us in!

The children decided Cinderella would go to the cinema or ice skating, take a limousine or maybe just phone a taxi and to end they would go out for dinner! This week we have also been designing and making our healthy snack boxes to use for healthy snacks we bring to school. We then made delicious fruit kebabs, yummy!
